MM2H is a Malaysian Government programme that allows eligible foreign nationals to reside in Malaysia under a renewable Long-Term Social Visit Pass with Multiple Entry Visa facilities.
The MM2H residence generally cannot be sold within the first 10 years. However, an upgrade is permitted by selling the existing property and purchasing another residential property of a higher value, subject to the programme requirements.
For the Silver, Gold and Platinum categories, applicants must generally be 25 years old or above and be a citizen of a country that has diplomatic relations with Malaysia. The SEZ/SFZ category has a minimum age of 21.
Yes. Eligible dependants can include a spouse, children and certain other family members. Children aged 21–34 must generally be unmarried and unemployed while in Malaysia. Parents and parents-in-law may also qualify as dependants.
The validity depends on the category: Silver – 5 years, Gold – 15 years, Platinum – 20 years, while the SEZ/SFZ category is 10 years. The passes are renewable subject to the applicable requirements.
This depends on the category. Under the current rules, business, investment and career activities are permitted under the Platinum category. Gold, Silver and SEZ/SFZ participants who wish to work or conduct business would need the relevant separate pass or approval.
Yes. Under the current federal MM2H programme, participants must purchase and own a residential property after obtaining approval. The minimum property value is RM600,000 for Silver, RM1 million for Gold and RM2 million for Platinum. Different conditions apply to the SEZ/SFZ category.
Up to 50% of the principal fixed deposit may be withdrawn after MM2H approval for permitted purposes in Malaysia, including property purchase, education, healthcare and tourism activities.
MM2H participants are generally required to spend at least 90 cumulative days per year in Malaysia. For participants below age 50, the requirement may be fulfilled by the principal and/or eligible dependants, subject to the applicable programme rules.
MM2H applications cannot currently be submitted individually. Applications must be made through an MM2H tourism operating company licensed by Malaysia's Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) and processed through the MM2H One-Stop Centre.
